Today marked the second day of our FTC Competition, and everyone had a very exciting time! Our team was spread pretty thin, with some members prepping the robot, others helping the other teams find tools and even more running the actual competition.
Falcontech did a great job in the qualifying matches, placing in the 6th spot overall by the end of match 15. The other schools present did an amazing job as well. Loco Robo Lobo had a very unique grappling hook that won every qualifying match they participated in, placing them in the number one spot. Pink Precision did an amazing job as well, placing in the second spot. Robotica Santi got the third place, and Besnik Beez got the fourth.
Falcontech was in the semi finals, allied with Watts Up, but did not go on to the final round. In a very exciting final two matches, Robotica Santi allied with Besnik Beez to come out on top, narrowly getting ahead of Pink Precision and Loco Robo Lobo. Even so, everyone did an amazing job, and all teams represented their schools well.
Finally, as you all know, the awards ceremony was incredibly amazing. Most teams got at least one award for their accomplishments, whether it was for reaching out to the community, designing an interesting component of the robot or even motivating others to do their absolute best. Right at the final award, the covetted Inspiration Award, Falcontech was getting a little crestfallen that they had not been called up to the stage when lo and behold the judges said out our team name as the best overall team with the best robot! Everyone completely lost it, and every member of the team got a medal (except Sebastian, his will come later. Thanks for being a good sport). This means that our team will have the chance to travel all the way to Worlds in St. Louis Missouri. More on that later, at the Tuesday meeting.
Overall, this has been a great season. And because it has been so great, it's not over yet! Thank you all so much for everything, whether you designed, built, programmed or documented our robot, you did ama
zing. We may not have had the best climbing skills or the most polished autonomous period, but we had the best engineering notebook, programming and team spirit around. You guys are fantastic and should be proud to be a part of this team. See you all on Tuesday, and chill out tomorrow. You guys earned it!!
